Two hundred stakeholders from the education, health, and community sectors created a wave of support this morning at the Montr3al launch of Hooked on School Days – HSD. The participation of and testimonials from students in welcome classes, high school, vocational training, and general adult education created quite a buzz in the Beurling Academy gymnasium, as did the tribute to community school workers.
Quebec Education Minister Bernard Drainville took the opportunity to remind people that we all take our educational journey and that some great things are happening in our schools. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, the HSD spokesperson for the past five years (a commitment that speaks to perseverance!) stressed that above and beyond our individual journeys, the success of young people is a societal responsibility.
